Annexation of contiguous properties into the City of Inman has decided advantages due to the fact that all such properties share the common wastewater network of sewage and storm water drainage system of underground pipes and influent processing as mandated by South Carolina DHEC. There are many advantages for coming into the City of Inman:
  • Street lights would also be provided by the City every 75' for a qualified area.
  • Sewer services include lower rates and tap fees. For example, the customer uses 10,000 gallons of water monthly and pays $4.60 per 1000 gallons, plus a $10.50 monthly base charge, totaling a yearly cost of $678,000 for outside customer. For a Commercial Business in the City Limits, the fees are $3.20 per 1000 gallons, plus a $6.00 monthly base charge for a yearly cost of $456.00. This is a difference of $222.00 in yearly savings. A tap fee for a commercial enterprise outside the City is $2,050.00; inside the City it is $1,050.00. These examples are for Commercial Property Owners.
  • The taxes paid to the City are tax deductible.

Police Protection:
The Inman Police Department is dedicated to protecting and property throughout the City of Inman. The Department has eight fulltime officers and five reserve officers with over one hundred years' of experience. The response time for a police call is under five minutes. Our police officers are on duty 24-hours a day and 356 days a year. They are part of the community and we always make time to talk with Inman citizens and help with their problems.
Fire Protection:
The Inman Fire Department currently has twenty-one members on the roaster, including the Chief. The average age of the firemen is 32-years old, and they have been involved in fire suppression and prevention for over 259 years of combined service.

The Department has an ISO rating of a 'straight four', meaning that all homeowners and businesses within the City of Inman have the same rating. In comparison, some firefighting departments have split ratings, depending on the distance from the station and the water supply.

An example of this would be a rating of 4/9, meaning that within a set distance and a good water supply available, the homeowner would have a rating of four. Outside of that area, they would have a nine rating. The Inman Fire Department is involved with the schools, local churches, and businesses - providing fire prevention and fire safety classes. The City of Inman also offers extrication equipment for incidents involving entrapment. The Inman Fire Department uses the City's tractors, backhoes, and dump trucks for emergencies. The City has three employees that are Certified Members of the Fire Department and are authorized to respond during working hours.
